Our Visit to Japan

Leon was invited to Japan several times as a result of his specialty in earthquake engineering. In the summer of 1986, after Frank’s college graduation, Frank and I visited Leon and his close Japanese colleague and friend in Japan. We were all children of World War II but on opposite sides of the war. To Leon’s surprise the Japanese professor was just like him in many ways: same age, same year married, same number of children (two boys and a daughter), same research interest, same position as department head, and each a part of happy family. We visited Nara City together.
