In July 2006, the discovery of Leon’s cancer was a death sentence. Our daughter, a medical doctor in the Boston area, immediately made a series of appointments for her father. At the time of our 45th wedding anniversary, we were on our way to the airport, having said goodbye to the wall mural I painted in the hallway and to our daughter’s silhouette in her wedding gown on the door.
