Nine months after Leon passed his oral examination, during Labor Day weekend in 1964, we had our first baby, Frank. The baby changed my life from that of a career woman to that of a housewife, because there was no maternity leave and no well-equipped daycare center nearby. My only choice was to quit my job. We moved from the MIT dormitory to the Harvard square area for me to take an art class at Cambridge Center for Adult Education in the evening.
